Melinda Watson

Melinda Watson was born and raised in Red Deer Alberta. She grew up participating in many sports mainly ringette. Her passion for assisting injured athletes back to sport was when she coached ringette. Being a part of teams growing up lead to her wanting to work with athletes and help rehab them back to sports safely. Athletic Therapy was her calling.

Melinda completed a Kinesiology diploma in 2009 and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic and Exercise Therapy in 2014. She then wrote a national exam to become a Canadian Certified Athletic Therapist in 2014. Her experience in the field setting has been with various sport teams such as basketball, volleyball, ringette and rugby teams.

In a clinical setting Melinda utilizes many hands on skills such as myofascial release, active release technique ® (ART), and muscle/fascial stretching. She also incorporates stretching and exercises into her practice. She is continually developing skills to help better her as a practitioner for her clients to enhance their quality of life.

Melinda has also been recently certified as a Complete Concussion Management Practitioner. Concussions have always been an interest of hers especially when dealing with high impact sports. It is important to her that athletes return back to sport safely and are given the proper treatment and management procedures to do so. YOU ONLY GET ONE BRAIN IN A LIFETIME, SO LETS PROTECT IT!!

Melinda is actively involved in staying fit and healthy by participating in ringette, kettle bells, golf, snowboarding and snowshoeing. Staying fit and eating healthy = good quality life!
